It sounds like the bake sale at TSU in San Marcos was great fun! We would like to throw out huge thanks to Reen who put it all together for us- you are a rock star, Reen! The bake sale raised almost $400, despite there being a rival bake sale only a few yards away. Cutie-pie kids-in-costume helped bring students to the table and entertained the crowd.
Reen shared one story from the day that I wanted to share with all of you:
One student in particular very emphatically told Laura and me to pass
along to you, Kari, high hopes and aspirations for Ike. She was one
pound, two ounces at birth after the doctors stalled her mother’s
labor for as long as they could. Her outlook was Not Good and multiple
disabilities were predicted for her. But here she was, beautiful and
healthy and strong and on the Dean’s List, striding around campus with
her head high and obviously a lot of love and enthusiasm for the
world. She wanted us to tell you guys, “You can do it, Ike!!”
These kinds of stories are exactly what the doctor ordered, especially now that IKE IS HOME! More about that soon!
And here are some photos from the event, courtesy of Stacy Farrugia—thanks Stacy!
